Robert took our wedding pictures in June of 1971 in black and white. They are still perfect. I was sad to read of his passing and shocked to hear that Joanna had previously died. My family also immigrated from Holland, so I knew the DeVos family since about 1958, I was very fond of Robert's in-laws.

September 8, 2018 Our condolences are extended to the families of Robert and Joanne Van Mechelen. We were very good friends of Robert and Joanne while we lived in Kingston. We were saddened by his passing and we can recall many happy and fun moments with Robert and Joanne. We met them both at a wedding of a mutual friend and discovered we all lived in the same apartment building. This is where our friendship and wonderful memories began. Much of our time was spent together on weekends dining, enjoying music, great conversations and evenings at the pubs. Regretably we moved far away and we were unable to carry on our friendship with our mutually growing families. Robert was fun and enjoyed life. Your families will miss Robert, and his "Joie de Vivre" we are certain. Love to all, Gloria and Paul Lambert Oshawa, Ontario
