Obituary of David P. Looyen

After a two year battle with cancer it is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our dear son, brother and uncle, David Looyen on Thursday, November 19, 2015 in Burlington, Ontario. He was 48 years old. David is survived by his father Pieter, stepmother Beulah, sister Margie Burrell, nephew Noah and niece Chloe. David is predeceased by his mother Henderika (Riek) Looyen, aunt Marg Kramer, uncles Casey, Joe and Daney Vanniedek, grandparents Opa and Oma Vanniedek and Opa and Oma Looyen. He will be greatly missed by his best friend Denis Matte and his family from Arizona who he considered his second family. David graduated from Queen’s University with a BA in 1989. He was a member of the Canadian Society of Club Managers and a certified Club Manager at the Port Credit Yacht Club in Burlington, Ontario. David loved hockey, especially his beloved Boston Bruins. Cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Charitable donations may be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton, Ontario.
