Obituary of Jack Clifford Jupp

Jack (John) Clifford Jupp passed away peacefully late February 16, 2017 at the age of 92. Loving husband to Louise Helen Jupp (nee James), and loving father to Robert (Bob) Jupp, Gloria Woodland (nee Jupp), pre deceased Diane Jupp and son-in-law pre deceased Lance Woodland. Missed by his grandchildren & great grandchildren Elaine Woodland, Erica Woodland; Logan, Jennifer Diaz (nee Woodland) & Chris Diaz; Amelia, Sophia & Elijah, David Woodland & Michelle Brunell; Mackenzie, Joshua, Rya & Rowen, Matthew Woodland; Destiny. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba his maternal last name of Herring an Irish descendant of Ballymoney. Adopted by Harry (Henry) & Amy Jupp & sisters Grace & Doris moved to Chateauguay, Quebec. In his youth he played for the Canadian Jr Hockey Team, football for Verdun High, an avid rower and later boxer. At the age of 16 enlisted in The Royal Canadian Navy to become a part of the war effort making some true life-long friends. Once peace declared he returned to Chateauguay to marry, start his family & began his long career in the Steel business with Ville Marie in Montreal, Valence Brown and later Russell Metals in Hamilton where he retired. Heavily involved in building up the community, he & his son were involved in the Cubs & Scouts, Jack was honoured with the position of Assistant District Commissionaire of Scouting in Montreal. With the help of his brother -in-laws & fellow comrades built the Legion – a place they could all get together to build fond memories. Joined the Shriners Club and became part of a team to see the Shriners Hospital of Montreal come to fruition. Spent volunteer time with his wife Helen in the children’s ward to ensure these young patients stay was a little more comfortable. As well devoted more time through charitable events as part of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by many good friends & family whom he never forgot. A charismatic, powerful but yet humble man always with a great story to tell. Grandpa you were the “cats meow”… “ a breathe of fresh air”. WE love you and miss you greatly. You set a great example to think of your fellow man & to live life to the fullest. Until we meet again!! Service to honour him will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Kingston Friday, March 17th, at 5pm. In lieu of flowers donations would be accepted in honour of Jack to the Legion, CNIB or the Cancer Association. Arrangements entrusted to CATARAQUI CEMETERY AND FUNERAL SERVICES.
