Hi Maureen & Dave Thanks so much for your condolences and kind words. Mom always enjoyed seeing everyone at the retiree functions - taking time to catch up and laugh. I know she did tell a few "naughty" stories - all in good fun. She looked forward to those events - didn't take them for granted - as she enjoyed the moments. Thanks again. Dave & Angela Reynolds

Hi Angela, Thanks so much for your condolences. Shirley enjoyed her time at Empire and we have witnessed the admiration at many functions - and listening to stories she told us when she would attend the Christmas and retiree socials. She always enjoyed a good conversation - and made people feel at ease, especially when her laughter was part of it. She will be missed. Dave & Angela Reynolds

Hi Ron & Ev, Thanks so much for your condolences. Mom never lost her sense of humour - I recall a few KASE club get together's in the back yard on Hawthorne and she would be teasing some of the gang - stringing them along for a good laugh. Full of life - she always enjoyed herself whatever the occasion. Dave & Angela Reynolds

Hi Pat, Thanks so much for your condolences. Shirley really enjoyed her days at Empire - made lots of friends - always had an ear to listen, or a shoulder to lean on. I still remember her retirement party there - Mrs Empire - leaving after 40 years ! We will miss her dearly - but we have so many great memories to cherish and reflect on - during this difficult time. Thanks again Pat. Dave & Angela Reynolds

Hello Chris and Marie, Thank you so much for your condolences. Shirley was a special lady - as a mother, wife, friend and colleague. She will be dearly missed by many - and I know so many stories of her days at Empire. You couldn't back her into a corner - in any conversation. She was a stick handler for sure. She enjoyed her days there - always up for a challenge - a shoulder to lean on - and she witnessed so many changes to the company. We will miss her - a big void in our lives. Thanks again. Dave & Angela Reynolds

I was so sorry to hear of Shirley's passing; condolences to her family. (My husband and I bought her home at 192 Hawthorne Ave., five years ago.) I had several good visits with her over the years; it was as though we had always known each other, right from the start.

Shirley was a great ball player. Looked good in the field for Empire Life. She was like my second mother when I was a kid. Great memories of her, Ted, Susan and Dave at their family home. I still walk by that house and remember back 50 years. Be well Sue and Dave.

Shirley was a real asset to Empire. From the time I joined Empire in the 70's she was always a friend, counselor and had a remarkable ability to lighten the atmosphere of any tense situation. She always had a wonderful sense of humour. Our sincere condolences to all the family and may it comfort you to know how much she was loved and admired by all of us at Empire.

I send my deepest condolences to Shirley's family. She was my boss at Empire Life for many years and her compassion and sense of humour made her the best boss ever! She treated all of us with utmost respect and commanded respect in return. Didn't get to see her much after she retired but I always made a point of chatting with her at the Empire retirement dinners. An unforgettable woman, her presence will be missed tremendously. Rest in peace, Shirley.
