Obituary of Filip Palda

Professor Filip Palda (55 years old) passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017 in Toronto, Ontario surrounded by his loving wife Maria and his mother-in-law Raisa, who both tirelessly watched over him and cared for him through every moment in his battle with cancer over the past two years. His father Kristian, brother-in-law Viktor, and friends Svetlana, Dezso, and Johnny also supported him through his struggle. Filip bravely fought with all of his might. He will be greatly missed for his compassion, friendship, charm, wisdom, and generosity. Professor Palda had a brilliant academic career as a full professor in Economics at the École nationale d’administration publique (ENAP), publishing books and writing articles, appearing on television and in radio, and served as a Senior Fellow at the Fraser Institute. His research interests included cost-benefit analysis, tax analysis, public choice, the underground economy, and the effects of electoral rules on political competition. His passion has contributed a lot to the Economics field through his unique thoughts and ideas. May he rest in peace. A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cataraqui Cemetery with Monsignor Lynch officiating. Arrangements entrusted to CATARAQUI CEMETERY AND FUNERAL SERVICES.
