Obituary of Opal Mary Elizabeth Malden nee Matthews

MALDEN, Opal Mary Elizabeth Opal Malden (nee Matthews) Born May 3, 1932 - died July 5, 2018 at the age of 86. She left this earth peacefully, at home, with her husband David and her children at her side. Survived by her husband of 70 years David Thomas Travis Malden and her six children David, Wendy, Joe, Terry, Kevan, and Kelly. She will be missed by her 13 grandchildren (Dion, Krista, Marcel, Tyler, Sean, Elizabeth, Steven, Victoria, Sarah, Calvin, Sydney, Amy, and Rachel) and her 9 great-grandchildren (Zanika, Xalynn, Luuna, Keanu, Kaitlyn, Skyla, Charlotte, Vera, and Hazel). A volunteer for over 30 years at Hotel Dieu Hospital in the gift shop and Kingston General Hospital in Cardiac Care, Dialysis, and Palliative Care she touched the lives of many people in the Kingston area. The family would like to thank Dr. Natalie Kondor and her team, and the nurses and personal care workers from Paramed Home Health Care, CBI Home Health and Saint Elizabeth Home Health Care for the care they provided during a difficult time. A very special, heartfelt Thank You to Hong and Zaineb ("ZZ") who's special care and genuine compassion for Mom, Dad, and the family has forever cemented your place in our hearts. A celebration of Mom's life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 on Wednesday July 11, 2018 in the Limestone Room at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 560, 734 Montreal St., Kingston. In keeping with Mom's wishes, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Mom's name be made to Hotel Dieu Hospital, Kingston General Hospital, The Canadian Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or the Canadian Kidney Foundation.
