Dear Joyce, sad to say I discovered today, while attempting to contact you and Bud, that he had passed away. As with so many things in life it is with regret that I did not keep in closer touch. Our condolences, however every belated, go out to you and the family. Bud had a lot of influence on me especially as to his advice and guidance to me as a young soldier. He was instrumental in my deciding to try my chances as an officer candidate in the regular force. Thanks to his advice I passed a rewarding career in the military. It is true and I will attest to it, Sergeants are the backbone of the army. Bud was first of many fine Snr NCOs I had the priviledge of knowing during my service. He was second to none, however, the finest of all.
