Obituary of Lenard Cecil Wolfreys
Len Wolfreys, age 87, passed away peacefully in Kingston, Ontario on May 1, 2024, surrounded by his family. Len grew up in a loving home with his parents and brothers who settled on Amherst Island in Loyalist Township, Ontario. He was to meet the love of his life, Doreen Adrian, marrying at age 18, to eventually start a family of their own in Millhaven, Ontario. Len retired from Centra Gas after 30+ years, making many strong and lasting friendships.
Len is fondly remembered as having a zest for life, loving people and laughter, telling funny stories, and enjoying pranks. Len was also known for his generous nature, always available to help as he was an incredible handy man with a wealth of tools and gadgets (MacGyver). Len also loved cars, trucks, boats, snowmobiles, Seadoos and motorcycles, never failing to inquire about your newest vehicle or sporting adventure. Len is also remembered as a music lover and talented cartoonist.
Len loved his family deeply and would make a point to tell them that he loved and appreciated them as often as possible. He was so proud of his wife, children and grandchildren, who all gave him strength during the rough times, and laughter and joy all the time. Len’s family and friends hold dear the stories from Len’s life and are privileged to remember this remarkable man and his legacy of love.
Len is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Doreen Wolfreys. He leaves behind three children: Darlene Hogan (Bill Godkin), Lloyd Wolfreys (Jeni) and Dawn Stitt (Greg Wales); foster children John Boyer (Laurel), Roger Boyer, Joe Boyer; grandchildren Deanna Carroll (Rob), Cody Hogan (Cassidy), Dustin Stitt (Hayley), Dillon Stitt, Paige Wolfreys (Scott Bruce), Miranda Oostrom, Dillon Oostrom, Josh Wales, Shayna Wales, Addison Boyer, Brandon Boyer, Lenny Boyer, Christopher Boyer; great grandchildren Jacob Carroll Adrain, Nicholas Stitt, Cole Carroll, Shyla Caroll, Caleb Hogan, Luke Moreland and Ren McCormack.
Len is survived by his brother Ellis Wolfreys (Marylou) and Sisters-in-law Lois Fennell (Ken) (Kingston), Elaine Wolfreys (Amherst Island) and Darline Wolfreys (Winnipeg). Len is predeceased by brothers Don, Art, Ernie, Lloyd, Howard and Henry and their parents, Bert and Mabel Wolfreys.
