Obituary of Ronald Keith Marriott

Ronald Keith Marriott died peacefully at Ottawa’s Queensway Carleton Hospital at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marjorie (Marni) Marriott, step-daughter Cheryl Rogers (nee Frayn), grandchildren Brian and Erin Rogers and brother Richard Marriott of British Columbia.

Born in Vancouver, Ron and Marni lived in Whitehorse, Yukon and Kamloops, BC where he worked as a court reporter for remote territories. When he retired they moved to Kingston for a few years before settling in Morrisburg, Ontario. In 2022 he moved to Ottawa, to be closer to family.

 

Ron took great pleasure in long conversations and seeking a deep understanding of the English language. He was an avid reader, and an accomplished artist. He painted with acrylics and never tired of studying impressionist artists who concentrated on landscapes and their subtle blending of colour. His passion for painting never ceased and the pursuit of a perfect sky-scape or shape of a flower was a constant source of fascination for him.

 

In his later years, Ron became involved with the United church and spent a great deal of time exploring religion and the nature of the universe, wondering how it all fit together.  

He will be laid to rest at Cataraqui Cemetery in Kingston. At his request there will not be a formal service or gathering.
