Obituary of Helen Dorothy Fowler

Helen’s family sadly announce her passing on Friday, May 19, 2023 at the age of 94 at Rosewood Retirement Home, Kingston, Ontario. Wife of the late Edward (Ted) Fowler.  She was the devoted Mom of Kathi (Robie Robitaille), Edward (Sheila) and Elizabeth (Dave Arnold). Proud grandmother of Kelli (Jacob McDonald) and Daniel (Janine) and loving great-grandmother of Benjamin McDonald. A life-long Kingstonian, Helen was the last surviving member of her family.  Predeceased by parents Rupert Davis and Elizabeth (Bessie) Coyle, brother Vincent (Joyce), sisters Eleanor (Edward (Ted) Cuthbert) and Bette (John Reinhardt).  Survived by several nieces and nephews.

Helen was a long-time employee of Sears Canada and the Queen’s University Physical Plant/Parking and Security Offices. An excellent cook, family was her number one priority, and nothing gave her greater pleasure than hosting family gatherings.  She was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren’s endeavours and activities.

Our sincere thanks to Home and Community Care South East, St. Elizabeth Health Care and Kaymar Rehabilitation for their care and expertise, and to the knowledgeable staff at Shoppers Drug Mart, Cataraqui Centre.  The family also wishes to thank the staff at Rosewood Retirement Home, Nancy Campbell NP and Dr. Natalie Kondor for their kindness, dedication and compassion.  As per Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at the Cataraqui Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to a reception in Helen’s honour at 458 College Street, Kingston, Ontario on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

In recognition of Helen’s love of animals, donations may be made to the Kingston Humane Society in her memory.
