It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sue Catlin (nee Johnston) peacefully in her sleep with the love of her life, Joe by her side at St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital in Kingston, Ontario on January 10, 2016. Sue leaves behind her husband Joe, her son Frank (Tammy) and her granddaughter Kayla. Sue also leaves behind her mother Amy Johnston, her sister Jane VanderBaaren (Ed), nephews Matt (Stephanie) and Nathan (Julie), and four great nephews Riley, Avery, Wesley, and Reed. Sue was so proud to be part of the Catlin family and she leaves behind: mother-in-law Noreen, Joe’s siblings Barb (Bill), Linda (Billy), Ann (Don), Brian (Nicole), and Michelle (Johannes), as well as niece Sydney, nephew Braden, niece Hollie (Steve), and great niece Summer. Sue was predeceased by her dad Ray J, her brother Michael, her father-in-law Frank, and her nephew Christopher. Sue wasn’t born on Howe Island but she was a true Islander. She loved her home and gardens and was a member of the Howe Island Garden Buds. Sue shared her love of gardening and her plants with family, friends and a caring community. Sue had recently retired after 37 years with Bell Canada. She and Joe were enjoying their second home in Sarasota, Florida as well as their beautiful home on the Island. Joe would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital for their caring and loving attention. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club, 961 King Street West, Kingston, Ontario, Thursday, January 14th from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Please join our families and share memories of Sue.
